A spokesperson for the health ministry in Gaza has reported 471 casualties from the explosion at al-Ahli hospital, with another 28 in critical condition. Since October 7, the reported death toll in the Gaza Strip has reached 3,478.
The cause of the explosion remains contested. The health ministry spokesperson attributes it to an Israeli strike, while Israel presents evidence suggesting a misfired rocket from the Islamic Jihad group as the cause.
Furthermore, the ministry states that hospitals in the Gaza Strip are facing increased strain since the start of the conflict, during which approximately 1,400 Israelis were reported dead.
