Over the past couple of days, Taliban insurgents captured the cities of Lashkar Gah, Qalat, Firozkoh, Tarin Kowt and Pul-i-Alam. Thus far, they’ve held captive 18 out of the 34 capitals in Afghanistan, including Herat and Kandahar; the 2nd and 3rd largest cities in the country.
The Taliban offense continues to walk through Afghanistan. After capturing Herat and Kandahar, the militia made its way to 4 more capitals in the center and south of the nation.
This offense continues to approach capital city Kabul and this happens just a couple of weeks before USA officially withdraws its troops.
Perhaps the biggest blow of this attack was the loss of Lashkar Gah, capita[playht_player width=”100%” height=”175″ voice=”Michael (en-US)”] of the Helmand Province, where American, British, allies, and NATO troops have held some of the most terrible battles of the past two decades.

Attaullah Afgha, Chief of the Province Consul at Helmand, confirmed that the Taliban had capture Lashkar Gah after several weeks of fierce combat.
Atta Jan Haqbayan, who holds that same title in the Zabul Province, confirmed that the Qalat province capital was captured. As aforementioned, the Taliban also successfully captured Firozkoh, Tarin Kowt, and Paul-i-Alam, the capitals of Ghor, Uruzgan, and Laugar provinces.
Taliban forces also claimed to have captured Qala-e-Naw, the capital of the Western province of Badghis. However, the media and official sources have yet to confirm that information. What is clear is that they won’t stop their attempts to dominate the country any time soon.
Worryingly, it only took a week for Taliban militia to take more than half of the provincial capitals in Afghanistan. They now control two-thirds of the nation. The Government, on the other hand, is still in control of Mazar-i-Sharif at north, Jalalabad, and Kabul.
